Established in 1960 by Theo Papamichael, the venture was bought by Mr Dworjanyn in 2000 and now under new management by Monica McLeod, the daughter of Mr Dworjanyn and still going strong. Theo's Shoe Hospital specialises in the services of boots, shoes, bag and luggage repairs, orthopaedic build up, leather goods made to order, shoe colouring and covering, key cutting, knives sharpening and selected engraving.

All of our leather is Australian made and all of our leather soles are sourced from France and Italy. For any repairs you need done to your shoes, that you love and bags or luggage with that sentimental value, Theo’s Shoe Hospital can repair these for you. We also do key cutting here in store or for any custom-made leather goods or if you have any questions or require help with anything, e-mail or phone us, or just drop into the store and have a chat with the team.

We also sell footwear such as men and ladies shoes, with built in orthotics.

Monica McLeod has taken over from her father Gregor Dworjanyn, a highly experienced cobbler, at Theo’s Shoe Hospital on Shields Street, Cairns City.

Monica will continue to run the longstanding business with her husband Alan, also a qualified cobbler to continue servicing their longstanding client base across Australia now aimed to take Theo’s Shoe Hospital to a whole new level.

We see people every day become really attached to their shoes – a woman came in one day and gave her shoes a cuddle before giving them to us. We’ve seen it all.

We do love seeing the expressions of interest on our customers faces when they come to pick up their shoes. If we can make the shoes better than what they were before, it’s just fantastic.
